Usman is figure 15 of the sixteen figures of Ilm al-Raml, in the order taught in The Master of Geomancy. It comes after Yunus and before Musah. Like every figure, it can appear in any of the sixteen houses of a chart, and each time it lands somewhere new, it has something different to say.
Pattern (top to bottom): two dots; one dot; two dots; one dot.
Element: Sand / Earth. It shares this element with Ayuba, Sulemana, and Yunus.
Usman at a glance
Usman alternates all the way down: two dots, one dot, two dots, one dot. Turn it upside down and you get Issah, figure 6, a Water figure with the same rhythm starting from a single dot. Usman is the last of the four Sand / Earth figures and the second-to-last figure of the sixteen.
What does Usman mean?
That depends on where it falls in your chart and what you’re asking. The same figure can carry a very different message in the house of wealth than in the house of marriage. Learning to read those shifts is the heart of Ilm al-Raml.
